Mathilde Varet is a partner at the firm and a member of the Paris Bar. She is registered on the emergency criminal defence lists and is a member of the Association des Avocats Pénalistes.
An expert in complex criminal cases, Mathilde has been involved in a wide range of procedural configurations, both in contentious matters (magistrates’ courts, assize courts, JLD, CHINS, etc.) and in negotiated procedures (CJIP, CRPC, etc.) and data management and analysis (forensic).
In particular, she has advised major French and international companies, industrial and pharmaceutical groups, executives, families and prominent figures on pre-litigation matters, internal investigations and cases relating to the protection of reputation, compliance and duty of care.
Before joining Vey & Associés, Mathilde practised for nearly ten years at Kiejman & Marembert, where she developed leading expertise in corporate criminal law, in particular in the follow-up of investigations conducted by the national financial prosecutor’s office or by independent administrative authorities.
For each case, she puts her expertise and her strategic and technical approach to the issues at stake at the service of her clients, drawing on all the firm’s resources, as well as its partners in France and abroad.
Mathilde holds an LLM in Comparative Criminal Law from Trinity College Dublin, a Master 2 in General Private Law from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Certificate in Criminology and Penal Sciences from Toulouse I – Capitole. She also obtained a Diploma in Spanish Law (DULS) and a Diploma in Foreign Languages, Literatures and Civilisations (LLCE) after completing a classical literary education (hypokhâgne and khâgne) in Toulouse.
Originally from the south-west of France, Mathilde stands out for her frankness, pugnacity and rigour.
A former markswoman, Mathilde enjoys world dance and horse-riding.
She is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese.
